God is a myth.
The myths are just myths.
The emotions are just chemical reactions.
Miracles are just defective perceptual experiences.
Nothing is perfect.
They say, “An unsatisfied Socrates is better than a satisfied pig.”
They say, “Ignorance is bliss.”
Contradictions.
Ignore ‘They’.
Greatness is overrated.
Some slightly evolved species, modifying a miniscule fraction of the space-time continuum.
Some slightly evolved species, hardwired to procreate and eternally horny, dying to copulate even with contraceptives.
Let’s get rid of our brain-washed, social-conditioned selves.
Let’s all be disillusioned.
Let nihilism be your guiding light.
Let true darkness prevail.
You can fool yourself, dance like a hedonistic pig and die happy.
Or you can face the eternal truth.
Choice is yours.
But if ‘ignorance’ is your pick, don’t over-congratulate yourself too much.
The fact is it doesn’t really matter.

Fossils
Dated: 16th Feb 2006
Octavia was in white. She looked perfect.
Odin (King of Gods) was in ... Well, doesn’t matter. It’s always her that matters.
She was stupid and he of course must be stupid.
They both went up the stairs.
Sitting on the stairs. Under the starry-starry skies.
Looking in her starry-starry eyes. (That’s not a simile. Her eyes really gleamed wonderfully in the dark).
She smelt like strawberries.
They spoke for a while. And then both of them became silent.
No. They were not the silent type. They were the finest entertainers who together could make the world dance on their tunes.
Odin had a feeling it’s a mirage. He knew he would find someone someday, who he could address as "the embodiment of every graceful fancy his mind has ever been acquainted with."
And when Octavia is sitting right next to him, when it is the most romantic time of his life; his power of speech fails him.
All he can think of is to embrace her tight; so tight that he can stop time and never let go of it.
He wants to do that but the silence that has been prevailing since past few minutes (which seemed like centuries to him) is making him even more hesitant.
They are really boring. Odin even talked about how it is the female mosquitoes that suck our blood and males simply live on plant juices. And she laughed at it saying she knows about it. After all, Octavia is the goddess of the science of Life.
Oh! talked a lot about Odin (who doesn’t really deserve so many words; we go back to Octavia).
Well just like Odin, even my power of expression fails me to describe what a divine beauty she was. She was the most delicate piece of beauty that has ever been so close to Odin. She might break or get spoiled if he would touch her.
He was really scared of that fact, so he kept his hands off her for some more time.
If the other gods were watching them, they would have gotten really bored by now.
Odin finally managed to ask Octavia.
"Can I hug you?”
Octavia opened both her arms just like that yahoo emoticon with a smile.
Odin reached heaven instantly, or may be moksha or nirvana or whatever the highest state of happiness is.
They sat like that and then she brushed her lips on his hand.
And Odin rose from the ground went up to the space and the heavens above.
and maybe higher than that, in a complete state of imperturbability.
After that whatever occurred, Odin forgot completely, so even I can’t tell that.
But Odin still feels a shiver whenever he thinks of that day, embedded in his memory like a Fossil..
I don’t know why he makes such a big fuss about what would barely pass as a 'make-out' in today's world. As for Octavia, she probably doesn’t even remember the day.
Guess some people are just stupid. Just like Odinand Octavia.

Christmas and the aftermath
For the first time in my life, Christmas was celebrated with lots of dancing. Not like grooving in a club, randomly shifting body-weight from one leg to the other but real dancing viz. salsa, rock n roll, cha cha and foxtrot. It was fun doing the SusieQ.
Anyway, to experience a contrast and to make this post lot more interesting, I went to get my tooth extracted the very next day. I had figured sometime back how this tooth was growing at an angle and needed to be removed and recently started paining due to the infection. To cut a long story short I was soon lying down on the dentist chair, mouth wide open, eyes tight shut and hands clenching the handles with all the force possible.
There were times when dentists used to extract teeth without any anesthesia. Just a thought of it sends chills to my spine. The tricky thing though is that you still feel that twinge when the anesthetic is injected in your gums. I found this quite ironic. I am not scared of needles but getting poked inside my mouth is not my idea of fun either. I am suddenly reminded of Jim Jarmusch's "Coffee and Cigarettes" where a character asks Roberto Benigni to take his place at the dentist's appointment. All the dentist jokes are now coming to my head which I cannot very well remember. I never found the humor in them till I was on that seat.
Back to reality now. I can hear words like suction, water, sound of a motor, such a cooperative kid, made no sound. How exactly am I supposed to yell with a tiny dental clinic sitting in my oral territory? I am manipulating myself to think about universe, cosmos, & space and how on some trivial planet, some trivial people are busy with some trivial tasks like dental surgery. To my pleasure, the ordeal got over quicker than I imagined. In my half conscious state, I refused to take my extracted teeth home, a decision I regretted later. I slept like a log under the effect of the effective analgesics. Woke up next day to find a rather asymmetric face which I captured in pictures.
Moral of the story: Visit your dentist regularly.

Equilibrium
Physics taught me, any system achieves an equilibrium after going through a series of initial disturbances. I see equilibrium as an ultimate calm state which is a goal for every system. Imagine a stationary pendulum and disturb it slightly. It starts oscillating and soon comes to its resting position. That my friend is equilibrium. The interesting part however is that this wonderful state is the outcome of often condescended evil frictional forces. Not only do they bring a system to equilibrium, they also determine how soon does it happen.
In the absence of drag forces however, a system will keep alternating between all the possible states in the vicinity of the equilibrium state.
Q. Is human civilization bound by the same laws and is destined to achieve an equilibrium?
A. Physics is based on understanding the patterns we observe. From gravitation to electromagnetism, all laws were formulated based on observations. If there exists a Grand Unification Theory as suggested by Einstein and a few other prominent scientists, then everything could be predicted by a certain set of laws. Human civilization, being a part of universe will follow it too.
Q. When will we achieve the ultimate state or have we achieved it already?
A. To answer this question we need to describe and understand the notion of ultimate state. In scientific terminology, a system can be at rest either in the absence of forces or when it achieves the perfect balanced state with equally opposing forces acting in harmony. However, these forces should not be seen as a representative of good & evil or positive & negative as these terms are quite misleading.
Countless people have been putting their efforts for numerous years to alter this planet in all directions. There is an Al Capone for every Benjamin Franklin. A Gandhi for every Hitler. Ram and Ravana. Moses and Ramses. Sometimes, the opposition goes beyond individuals: Capitalism & Communism, Conservatives & Liberals. The list is endless.
I therefore feel that human civilization must have already achieved the so called state.
Q. If the equilibrium is already attained, why aren't we at rest?
A. Imagine the same pendulum once again only this time, everything is in a super-smooth vacuum. If you set it in motion once, it will keep oscillating forever. Whenever it's moved in one direction, it automatically goes in the other direction. With each new change, another change takes place to counter it.
This is it.
This doesn't however mean that people should stop putting any efforts because these efforts in essence are the reason of this equilibrium.

Love: The way I understand it
We all need a bit of magic, something divine, supernatural, empowering, and enchanting in our mundane life. As Woody Allen says, “I feel that life is divided into the horrible and the miserable. That's the two categories. The horrible are like, I don't know, terminal cases, you know, and blind people, crippled. I don't know how they get through life. It's amazing to me. And the miserable is everyone else. So you should be thankful that you're miserable, because that's very lucky, to be miserable.”
Theists have a great privilege of witnessing God in almost anything. For some people a bit of cleanliness is almost as good as godliness. However, life gets a bit too methodical and predictable for a logical atheist. The possibilities of witnessing a miracle are remote if you discount a few coincidences.
A second magical possibility conceived almost as good as God and sometimes even better is Love.
Plausibly one of the most misunderstood words, like few others. Or rather everybody just understands it differently.
Love is often discredited as a trick played by hormones (oxytocins, pheromones etc) or sometimes it is diminished to a level to be used only as a protective cover for carnal desires. A person I knew considers the self-sacrificing, unconditional, divine love as nothing but a marketing gimmick that probably sold and is still selling myriads of books, movies, music and various other art forms.
Confession: I grew up on Shahrukh Khan’s movies.
It may be a slight exaggeration because I certainly have also been influenced by some of the finest filmmakers including Woody Allen, Tim Burton, Guru Dutt, Vijay Anand, Vishal Bhardwaj etc.
And well, it may sound childish but I interpreted the meaning of Love from his movies. The unconditional love where the hero like a naive poker player bets his farm (goes all in) and leaves the table with an amazing win. It’s not about the conquest or about taking the prettiest girl home or being the most fun person. It’s about those feelings and emotions that I experience when I witness a character whose passion makes him larger than life. The person who has an access to a never-ending source of love that never dries off. A person who achieves the unimaginable just to make his beloved smile for a moment longer.
Quite a few acquaintances of mine consider him to be a bad actor, but in my opinion I have yet to see an actor who can romance as passionately as Shahrukh. Someone who can convey only with a look “I will fly to the sun back and forth a million times for you. I will fight Superman and even beat him for you. I will make you feel to be the most wonderful person in the entire cosmos.”
I had a few amorous affairs myself. I treated a couple of them as princesses too but needless to say, real life was much too disappointing.
But I am not complaining. I still relish and will possibly keep relishing watching the romantic antics of the person who defined romance for me and for contemporary cinema.
Summarising with a bit of Charles Dickens “You have been the embodiment of every graceful fancy my mind has ever become acquainted with.”

Investor Me
I am proud of myself. After months of dillydallying, and without any expertise (I am kinda financ-o-phobic), I bought my first three shares of my favorite addiction. :)
Let's see where it goes from here.
But I am happy to finally make a move.

Zenzi Salsa Night
I attended the sunday salsa night at zenzi for the first time. It sure was a great experience.
Seeing so many talented dancers from various schools was absolutely impressive.
And I got to watch Kaytee dance live for the first time. Loved his flawless and extremely graceful dancing.
I managed to get a compliment from a girl on my dancing which was all I could ask for at this stage.
Would like to do it more often in future.

Strawberry Fields Forever
It is just a sham.
Everything I like/dislike, love/hate is programmed into my head by social conditioning.
Food,
Drinks,
Smokes,
Art,
People,
Just about everything, all preferences are consequences of programming.
Good to know we are all manipulated, including the ones who think they are the manipulators.
Nothing is real and Nothing to get hung about

Everyone is choosy...
Everyone is choosy. Some compromise, some don't. Those who don't, define attitude...
This is the concept I came up with while doing one of my favorite pastimes, gchat with a very good friend of mine. Yes we all know we are all choosy. Some a bit less, some a bit more. There is always a degree involved. As Wikipedia defines “attitude is a hypothetical construct that represents an individual's degree of like or dislike for an item.” But I am not talking about the likes and dislikes, positive and negative attitude towards things. I am talking about Attitude.
The thing I want to emphasize is that people who don’t compromise are the ones who define attitude. This word is one of those commonly misused word and that makes it harder to define. In a discussion with another friend, I realized how people who are choosy demonstrate attitude. Ever felt that your friend who refused to join you for lunch has attitude because s/he found the place inferior to her/his tastes. Not a very good example of attitude, well let’s take a few others.
Indian freedom fighters (Gandhi or Bose, pick whoever you like) lived a harsh life and struggled throughout because they were choosy about who governs them. Andrew Carnegie, the second wealthiest person ever, chose to draw only $50,000 per year and gave the rest away to philanthropy. Remember Rahul (Shahrukh Khan) from “Dil To Pagal Hai”, who never compromised for his Maya? Lord Buddha relinquished all the luxuries because he chose wisdom over worldly pleasures.
There are tons of such examples and all the great achievers possessed attitude.
I regret every time I compromise and always learn from every such situation.
Yes, I do have Attitude.

No Direction Home
I am at work and do not want to work. I do not want to do anything. I am feeling directionless. I want to just listen to Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, CCR, Steppenwolf and of course, The Beatles. I want to be teleported to Woodstock ’69. I want to spend time with some really interesting and nice people and smoke. I want to just be.
Once upon a time you dressed so fine
You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn’t you?
Peopled call, say, beware doll, you’re bound to fall
You thought they were all kiddin you
You used to laugh about
Everybody that was hangin out
Now you don’t talk so loud
Now you don’t seem so proud
About having to be scrounging for your next meal.
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be without a home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?
You’ve gone to the finest school all right, miss lonely
But you know you only used to get juiced in it
And nobody has ever taught you how to live on the street
And now you find out you’re gonna have to get used to it
You said you’d never compromise
With the mystery tramp, but now you realize
He’s not selling any alibis
As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes
And ask him do you want to make a deal?
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?
You never turned around to see the frowns on the jugglers and the clowns
When they all come down and did tricks for you
You never understood that it ain’t no good
You shouldn’t let other people get your kicks for you
You used to ride on the chrome horse with your diplomat
Who carried on his shoulder a siamese cat
Ain’t it hard when you discover that
He really wasn’t where its at
After he took from you everything he could steal.
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?
Princess on the steeple and all the pretty people
They’re drinkin, thinkin that they got it made
Exchanging all kinds of precious gifts and things
But you’d better lift your diamond ring, you’d better pawn it babe
You used to be so amused
At napoleon in rags and the language that he used
Go to him now, he calls you, you cant refuse
When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose
You’re invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal.
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
